In a handwritten apology released on October 5th, Choi said, “I am truly sorry to the many people who were disappointed by my actions. I had a moment of carelessness and disappointed many people. I apologize once again to the drama director, writer, staff, actors, and many people who are with me.”

Choi’s agency, Gold Medalist, also issued a statement apologizing for the actor’s behavior. The agency said, “Choi Hyun Wook recently smoked a cigarette while talking on the street with acquaintances. He has acknowledged his mistake and is deeply reflecting on his actions that were handled incorrectly and careless actions that may have been uncomfortable to see.”

Choi is currently appearing in the tvN drama “Sparkling Watermelon.”
