Borderlands 4 New Release Date And Implications
Originally scheduled for release on September 23, Borderlands 4 will now be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 12. In the video, Pitchford stated that the release date is shifting because the game is going well and they are advancing it.
Whether the sudden decision to move the game forward has anything to do with Grand Theft Auto 6 will be questioned. At some point in the fall of 2025, GTA 6 is still scheduled for release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

Or, in order to avoid conflict with Bungie’s Marathon 2K, Gearbox might have pushed Borderlands 4 forward. The game is presently scheduled for release on September 23, 2025. Sony publishes Marathon as a Bungie game.
