Fans of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners have reason to celebrate — a brand new season is officially on the way.
At Anime Expo 2025, Studio Trigger confirmed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is in production. The new season will feature 10 episodes and stream exclusively on Netflix.
Kai Ikarashi, who worked as an animator, storyboard artist, and designer on the first season, is stepping up as director for the sequel, marking his directorial debut. Returning to the project are writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor and character designer Ichigo Kanno. Masahiko Otsuka will again handle the script.
The series promises a fresh, standalone story set in the gritty world of Cyberpunk 2077. According to the team, viewers can expect “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge,” diving deep into how far someone will go to make their story matter in a world obsessed with spectacle.
The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, released in 2022, became a global hit on Netflix. The anime, based on CD PROJEKT RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 game, won praise for its emotional storytelling and stunning animation.
Fans at Anime Expo got an exclusive, closed-door preview of teaser footage for the new season. Meanwhile, a prequel manga, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness, by artist Asano and writer Bartosz Sztybor, launched in December and is available in seven languages, with Dark Horse handling the English print release.
