Deaths In James Gunn DC Movies Will Actually Be Meaningful

It is no secret that people are somewhat fed up with the meaningless deaths that have been happening in shows and movies. Yes, especially Marvel, whose are the top contender for this. However, James Gunn, the director of the upcoming Superman, says that deaths would matter this time around.

Superheroes and villains in comic books usually survive—at least not for very long. This is because if characters died forever, there wouldn’t be many left for you to write stories about.

Likewise, there have been fictitious deaths in superhero film franchises. The Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it appears that the DCU will not follow a similar path for its characters’ rebirth. People thinking there are no stakes and death doesn’t mean anything is what backfires, Gunn continued.

The runtime of Superman was announced earlier this month, and Gunn denied that Warner Bros., the film’s parent corporation, had “forced” him to cut the film’s length.

With credits and post-credits, Superman, which opens in theatres on July 11, runs for two hours and nine minutes. For comparison, that is fifteen minutes less than the 2013 movie Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill.
