Gaming is a serious business these days. They require millions of dollars and hundreds of developers to create them. So it is obvious that it’s a serious crime when someone tries to sabotage or steal copyrighted stuff from developers. This is the same case with a Destiny 2 cheater who was issued a 500k Dollar fine from court.

Destiny 2 Cheater – Harassment and Theft
District court judge Richard Jones concurs with Bungie’s cases. Defendant Luca Leone’s use of cheat software constituted “copyright infringement” of Destiny 2. An “unauthorized derivative work” is produced by the cheat software’s “graphical overlay” and use of “injected code,” both of which are against federal copyright law. The court’s ruling confirms $150,000 in damages for each of the two infringing works.
In an effort to circumvent Bungie’s repeated account ban attempts, Leone also created new accounts and attempted to opt out of the game’s license agreement while still a minor. According to the judge’s order, this made each of Leone’s subsequent Destiny 2 logins an unauthorized violation of Bungie’s copyright, and it added $2,000 in damages for each of “at least 100” such logins.
The Court has also banned Luca Leone from interacting with Bungie’s property in any sort of way. This includes obtaining, downloading, copying, playing, and streaming any of Bungie’s games. The Destiny 2 cheater cannot buy or sell Bungie accounts and emblems.
There were also unsettling allegations of surveillance and threats made against Bungie personnel, notably Dylan Gaffner, the community manager. The court also prohibited him from engaging in that type of harassment in the future. The judge also prohibited him from entering within 1,000 feet of Bungie’s offices or the known residence of any employee.
