Vigilante, a new Korean original series on Disney+, raises the question of whether the law is fair. The protagonist, Kim Ji-Yong (Nam Joo-hyuk), is a gentle and compassionate young man who becomes a vigilante at night to ensure justice is done. His targets are evil, unrepentant offenders who evade the law.
Director Choi Jeong Yeol hopes the series will raise questions about the fairness of the law, whether a vigilante is a hero or a villain, and what we need to do to have a more solid legal framework. Read More on BlurStory – Kangnam Takes Helm of New Entertainment Company Armada Entertainment
The series is based on the Korean webtoon of the same name, which has been viewed more than 370 million times. Choi selected impressive episodes from the webtoon to keep the tension high and the series fast-paced.
Yoo Ji-tae plays Jo Heon, the leader of the police investigation team who goes after the vigilante. Yoo gained 20 kilograms to play the huge, muscular Monster Cop. He hopes Vigilante will reach a global audience and become the “Batman” of Korea.
The first two episodes of the eight-part show will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday.
