A Long-Awaited Final Fantasy XVI Xbox Arrival

Originally, Final Fantasy XVI launched in June 2023 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, with its console exclusivity lasting until December 31, 2023. The game arrived on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on September 17, 2024. Now, Xbox players finally get to join the adventure.

The World of Final Fantasy XVI

Set in a dark fantasy world, Final Fantasy XVI follows Clive Rosfield, a warrior sworn to protect his younger brother, Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix. After tragedy strikes, Clive vows revenge against Ifrit, a mysterious and destructive Eikon.

Players will explore a land shaped by powerful creatures called Eikons and the chosen individuals known as Dominants who wield their power. With action-packed combat and an emotional story, the game offers an epic experience for fans of the franchise.

Behind the Scenes

Creative Business Unit III, the same team behind Final Fantasy XIV, developed the game. Naoki Yoshida served as producer, while Hiroshi Takai directed the project. Popular artist Kenshi Yonezu performed the theme song, “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing.”

DLC and Musical Expansion

Final Fantasy XVI has also received two major DLCs:

  • Echoes of the Fallen (released December 2023)
  • The Rising Tide (released April 18, 2024)

Beyond the game, a stage musical adaptation was produced by Japan’s Takarazuka Revue, featuring an all-female cast. The show ran from May 17 to June 23 in Takarazuka and from July 13 to August 25 in Tokyo, starring Toa Serika and Sakura Haruno.

With its Xbox release, Final Fantasy XVI is now more accessible than ever. Whether you’re new to the series or a longtime fan, this is the perfect time to dive into one of the most ambitious entries in the franchise.
