A staff member on the set of Gyeongseong Creature 2, a Netflix original series, has died. The cause of death is still under investigation, but the police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Science Institute (National Forensic Service).
The deceased staff member, Mr. A, was a member of the props team. He was found dead on the set of the show on August 20, 2023.
Gyeongseong Creature is a creature thriller set in the spring of 1945, when the darkness of the era was deepest. The show follows two young people, whose only goal is survival, as they confront a monster born of greed.
Filming for the first season of Gyeongseong Creature ended in October 2022. Filming for the second season is currently in progress.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. A,” a Netflix official said in a statement. “We pray for the deceased to rest in peace and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”
The official added that Netflix is working closely with the production company to investigate the situation and resolve any issues.
Gyeongseong Creature is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2023. The show stars Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Su-hyeon, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-cheol, and Wi Ha-jun.
