The Slickback, also known as the Jubi Slide, is a gravity-defying dance move that has taken over South Korea. It is characterized by its smooth, fluid movements and use of the arms and legs to create a “floating” effect.
The dance originated in 2022 on TikTok, created by user Jubi2fye. It quickly gained popularity in South Korea, thanks partly to a viral video of Lee Hyo-cheol dancing in October 2023. Read More on BlurStory – Korean Health Authorities Investigate ‘Coupang Bed Bug Theory’,
However, there are key differences between Slickback and Jubi Slide. South Korean creator Lee explained to Recent Olympics that the difference between the Jubi Slide and Slickback is that the latter is performed by jumping on one’s heels instead of dragging one’s feet. Some people also refer to the Jubi Slide as the Slickback, as the dance move is usually performed alongside the song “A Pimp Named Slickback” by DJ and producer Lakim.
The Slickback challenge has become so popular that even K-pop idols are getting involved. Groups like NCT, Lesserafim, and IVE have all been seen performing the dance, and it has even been featured on some of the biggest music shows in South Korea. Even JYP couldn’t help himself from trying the Slickback challenge.
In addition to its popularity in South Korea, the Slickback challenge has also spread to other parts of the world. It is now one of the most popular dance challenges on social media, and it has been performed by people of all ages and skill levels.
