Gamers can relive their favourite moments without having to deal with cartridges or antiquated gear thanks to these little gadgets that come packed with classic games. New players who wish to learn about the history of gaming are also drawn to this.

Ease of Access

Not everyone can buy an old console, however, nearly everyone can emulate it. Regular computers nowadays are powerful enough to emulate platforms like the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo 64. Since platforms like these have hundreds of classic games on them which can be easily found, it is a no-brainer why it’s popular.

One of the main ways that retro aesthetics entered popular culture was through independent video games. 8-bit and 16-bit graphics are combined with creative gameplay mechanisms in games like Shovel Knight and Celeste.

By fusing nostalgia with new concepts, these titles demonstrate the enduring attraction of retro style and reach a broader audience. Indie developers keep proving that the combination of innovation and simplicity works.
