Indian Esports And Govt Programmes Inclusivity
Esports now has the same respect as traditional sports thanks to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ decision to include it in the monetary incentive scheme. To qualify for one of the many championships, an Indian esports athlete must win a medal. This covers the World University Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, Olympic Games, and Esports World Championship.
The Esports Federation of India claims that this action will encourage more athletes to represent India and win medals internationally while also assisting the industry’s growth. The government’s choice to compensate esports coaches will also contribute to creating a professional development and structured training ecosystem.
Within six months following the conclusion of their tournament, esports players and coaches must apply for financial prizes using the Department of Sports’ DBT-MIS site. In the past, ESFI assisted in obtaining ₹10 lakh for each esports competitor from Maharashtra who participated in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
