Xbox is one of the three big gaming consoles. It has been the main rival to Sony’s PlayStation 5 for over two decades. However, this generation certainly proves that the PS5 has won the battle. Furthermore, instead of giving some hope, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has just given up.

“I’m not trying to move them all over to Xbox anymore“
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has explained why he is attempting to meet players where they are rather than trying to persuade all PlayStation and Nintendo gamers to switch to Xbox. On the XboxEra podcast, Phil Spencer discussed his feelings toward the system.
Because Microsoft receives 100% of its revenue from first-party game sales, as opposed to 70% on the PS5 and Switch, with the remaining 30% going to PlayStation and Nintendo, respectively, Spencer stated that it is crucial to invest in Microsoft’s own platforms. That’s “helpful to us being able to build great portfolios,” Spencer added.
With Microsoft’s new multiplatform strategy, Spencer also stated in the interview that he wants to be “transparent with people.” This implies that even during Microsoft’s own game showcases, fans may anticipate seeing branding for the Switch, PS5, or Steam if Microsoft is releasing a first-party game on those platforms.
After making its Xbox premiere in 2024, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the upcoming blockbuster Xbox games to arrive on the PS5. It will be available on the PS5 this spring. Following that, Doom: The Dark Ages launches simultaneously on all platforms in May for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
