IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, has issued a strong warning against reckless slander and death threats against the singer and actress. The agency announced on September 6, 2023, that it has filed a complaint with the police and a lawsuit against a group of people who have been slandering IU and giving her death threats. Back in February, EDAM Entertainment filed a complaint in Gangnam Police Station aimed at individuals who had been maliciously spreading false information and engaging in slander, using various social media accounts and identities. The agency stated that the slanderous attacks on IU have been ongoing for several months. The perpetrators have used various social media accounts to spread false information about IU. In one case, the perpetrators even threatened to kill IU at her home.
Furthermore, EDAM is looking to pursue legal action against perpetrators. They have requested personal information from relevant organizations to identify the culprits behind these baseless accusations.
In its statement, the agency stated that it is all prepared to take all necessary legal measures to protect IU and other artists from harassment and intimidation.
