HBO has canceled season 2 of its drama series “The Idol,” which starred BlackPink member Jennie in her acting debut.

The series, which was co-created by The Weeknd and Sam Levinson, was met with controversy from the start, with some viewers criticizing its explicit content. The show also received mixed reviews from critics.

Despite the controversy, “The Idol” was a ratings success for HBO, with the first episode drawing over 900,000 viewers. However, the network ultimately decided not to move forward with a second season.

In a statement, HBO said, “‘The Idol’ was one of HBO’s most provocative original series, and we are grateful to the creators, cast, and crew for their incredible work. Ultimately, we felt that the show did not meet our creative standards, and we decided not to move forward with a second season.”

Jennie’s performance in “The Idol” was praised by many fans, and she is expected to continue her acting career in the future.
