Korena Rapper Ravi, who was found guilty of trying to evade military service by falsely claiming to have epilepsy, was sentenced to 2 years in prison by an appeals court on October 31, 2023.

Ravi had been previously sentenced to one year in prison, two years of probation, and 120 hours of community service, but the prosecution appealed the verdict, arguing that the sentence was too light. Read More on BlurStory – LE SSERAFIM Makes Historic Appearance on NBC’s ‘Today Show’

In a handwritten letter to the court, Ravi expressed his remorse for his actions. He said, “I am ashamed of myself for joining the shortcuts that reach the level of crime in the midst of those efforts.” He also said, “If you give me a chance, I will never forget my mistakes for the rest of my life.”

Ravi’s lawyer argued that the rapper had admitted his mistake and was remorseful. However, the appeals court upheld the original sentence of 2 years in prison.

Ravi is not the first South Korean celebrity to be convicted of military service evasion. In recent years, there have been a number of high-profile cases, including those involving actors Yoo Ah-in and T.O.P.

  1. TOP wasn’t trying to evade service. He got convicted of having used marijuana that they found in his hair from the past. Not cool being inaccurate. This guy will get to be like many US rappers pretend to be – an actual lawbreaker.
