Korena Rapper Ravi, who was found guilty of trying to evade military service by falsely claiming to have epilepsy, was sentenced to 2 years in prison by an appeals court on October 31, 2023.

In a handwritten letter to the court, Ravi expressed his remorse for his actions. He said, “I am ashamed of myself for joining the shortcuts that reach the level of crime in the midst of those efforts.” He also said, “If you give me a chance, I will never forget my mistakes for the rest of my life.”
Ravi’s lawyer argued that the rapper had admitted his mistake and was remorseful. However, the appeals court upheld the original sentence of 2 years in prison.
Ravi is not the first South Korean celebrity to be convicted of military service evasion. In recent years, there have been a number of high-profile cases, including those involving actors Yoo Ah-in and T.O.P.
