Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
In October 2023, Meta introduced the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses. It had varied functionalities like taking phone calls, music etc. Under the moniker Ray-Ban Stories, Meta the first generation was released in September 2021. However, it turned out that consumer retention wasn’t as much as expected. To put it simply, people didn’t buy it that much.
However, it seems like the second iteration has been a success, according to Mark Zuckerberg. This was revealed in a conference call with Meta investors.
“Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are also off to a very strong start, both in sales and engagement. Our partner EssilorLuxottica is already planning on making more than we’d both expected due to high demand. Engagement and retention are also significantly higher than in the first version of the glasses.”
“We also have an exciting roadmap of software improvements ahead, starting with rolling out multimodal AI and then some other really exciting new AI features later in the year.”
Meta is looking to incorporate AI features in their Ray-Ban Smart Glasses based on Meta’s Llama 2. However, it is still unknown when can see the release of these said features.
