Reddit is one of the largest social media websites to exist today. It sees millions of users on it every day. Usually, Reddit is very liberal with the stuff you can post on the website. However, multiple subreddits have started blacklisting content from X (formerly Twitter) on Reddit.

X/Twitter Content Ban On Reddit
These prohibitions are a component of a broader Reddit campaign to outlaw X material. Several posts have been posted in different subreddits asking whether the corresponding subreddit should do the same. Most subscribers now support banning content that has been removed from X. The severity of the bans varies in each subreddit; for example, r/WOW forbids photos, whereas r/Nintendo and r/SteamDeck let screenshots.
The ban’s official justifications differ. Musk, the owner of X, was spotted making a Nazi salute while at President Trump’s inauguration. However, X’s “increasingly hateful” content and lack of moderation have also been highlighted by many forums as justifications for blocking the website.
“X has become increasingly hateful, toxic and less and less moderated. This has, in turn, made us less comfortable with letting our subreddit link it to other people. Not to mention the distasteful things Elon Musk has done recently.” said r/PCgaming moderator.
The question of whether Musk’s gesture was a Nazi salute is still up for debate, but both the German and Jewish communities have stated that they believe it to be antisemitic. In his condemnation of Musk, German chancellor Olaf Scholz said that “everyone can say what he wants, even if he is a billionaire, but what we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme right positions.”
