We had a resurgence of skateboarding games for a while with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remakes. The THPS 1+2 got great reviews, and people are anticipating 3+4 too. And now, Xbox’s own Skate series is also looking to dip its toes in a reboot.

Skate Reboot Release Date And More
The Skate relaunch from EA is still scheduled to go live in early access later this year. Early production video for the Skate revival surfaced online in 2022. A few months later, EA formally unveiled video of the new Skate game’s “pre-pre-pre alpha” prototype. In 2022, we also found out that the new Skate game would be a live-service free-to-play game rather than Skate 4.
EA wrote a long blog article regarding Skate on April 24. This article is the first of a series called “The Grind,” which will include frequent updates from EA regarding the game’s progress before release. One of the commonly requested questions that EA addressed in the inaugural “The Grind” post was whether the game will include an offline mode. They gave the unambiguous response, “No.”
EA and the developers of the Skate relaunch stated elsewhere in the blog post that they remained dedicated to a 2025 release. However, they also reminded players that the game’s initial iteration will not be “finished.”
Sometime in 2025, Skate will be available on PCs and consoles. Cross-play and cross-progression will be supported.
