After the Sonic 1 and 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is already green lit for production. The first 2 movies already proved that the brand still had loyal fans. While there has not been a terribly good Sonic game in years, The movie department has been really good. Sonic 1 and 2 have been really successful with the fans and Paramount has decided to keep expanding on the franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was already planned, even before the second movie launched. Let’s talk about everything we know yet.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Release Date
The third installment of Sonic the Hedgehog will debut on December 20, 2024. Although the previous two films were a hit when they were released in the first quarter of 2020 and 2022, respectively, it appears that the studio has more faith in the franchise now that the third film will be released during the holiday season. The amount of time given to the movie also suggest the budget alloted has been increased as well. The shooting for the film has been predicted to start at 31 August in London.
Where is the Franchise going next?
The next movie is going to be a direct sequel to the second movie. This means that most of the cast and characters will be returning. Shadow the hedgehog was also hinted to be in the movie. It will be interesting to see how will they handle the character.
The last movie showed the demise of the antagonist, Dr. Robotnik. So he may or may not be returning. Jim carrey who played him, has also announced that he is not going to act in films anymore. The director has also stated they won’t be recasting if this happens.
It also hinted that Knuckles will also get his own spin off series. Mainly so that they can flesh out the character.
