A former K-pop idol singer, Lee Areum, has regained consciousness after attempting suicide and is taking legal action against YouTubers and malicious commenters who spread rumours about her.
Areum, who was a member of the girl group T-ara from 2012 to 2013, posted a lengthy message on her Instagram account on Thursday, thanking her fans for their support and vowing to take revenge on those who hurt her.
She said that the rumours spread by YouTubers about her health condition and her boyfriend were false and that she would be taking legal action against them.
Moreover, Areum also lashed out at malicious commenters, who she said had driven many celebrities to suicide. She said that she would be suing them for everything they had written in the past.
The singer also thanked her fans for their support and said that she would be posting a picture of herself when she has fully recovered.
Areum’s message comes after YouTuber ‘President Lee Jin-ho’ revealed text messages and call transcripts, claiming he had captured circumstances in which Areum and her boyfriend requested tens of millions of won in money from SNS followers for purposes such as hospital expenses.
Areum denied the allegations and said that she had been hacked after receiving financial support from her SNS followers.
She said that she and her boyfriend had asked their followers to contact them if they wanted to return the money, but they did not receive any response.
Areum announced the existence of her current boyfriend in December last year while she was going through a divorce with her ex-husband. She accused her ex-husband of abusing their children and committing domestic violence.
