Tekken 8 Colourbling Accessibility Filter
The user @itwhiffed from X tweeted showcasing the different colorblind filters. Several filters display varying strength levels for red, green, and blue. Characters are also displayed as vertical and horizontal lines with various white or black backgrounds when using a certain set of filters, though.
James Berg, senior GM for accessibility at EA, remarked, “Please stop directly sharing the tweet showing Tekken characters as striped lines.” claiming that vertigo and migraines were being caused by the video.
He continued by stating that “patterns of lines moving on a screen creates a contiguous area of high-frequency flashing, like an invisible strobe” Some users on X confirmed that. Meanwhile, the Tekken 8 team was advised to utilize EA’s photosensitive epilepsy safety testing tool by Tara Wake Voelker, the accessibility lead at Xbox Game Studios.
Tekken 8 Lead Director, Harada went on to state that they will be fixing it as soon as possible. According to him, all this was a result of some kind of misunderstanding. However, there is plenty of room for adjustment.
