According to reports, Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s forthcoming Tomb Raider TV series on Prime Video is “dead.” Sources who spoke to Daily Mail said as much.

According to reports, Sophie Turner, star of Game of Thrones, was the most popular candidate to play Lara Croft in the show. When asked by Daily Mail, Prime Video refused to comment. Under the direction of Jennifer Salke, the head of Amazon MGM Studios, the Tomb Raider series for Prime Video was approved.

However, Salke recently left the company due to rumors of a power struggle. Salke was rumored to be personally in charge of the Tomb Raider series. Her departure could mean the end of the show as well.

In March, Puck’s Matthew Belloni revealed that the Tomb Raider franchise went through several writers’ rooms and that “tens of millions” were spent on development.

In the past, Salke stated that she anticipated Tomb Raider to be a “huge franchise for us,”. They pointed out that Waller-Bridge was the ideal candidate to oversee the endeavor. Waller-Bridge also commented positively about the series, stating that she believes her career has been “building up to this” since she worked on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and the James Bond film No Time To Die.

The upcoming Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics will be available on Amazon, even though the Tomb Raider series may not be continuing. It was never anticipated that this new game would be related to the television show.
