Well, I had a hunch that this might happen, but it still does not make it feel any better. The GTA 6 release date has been pushed further and delayed to May 2026. This also means that the game will take about two years to release on PC now.

GTA 6 Delayed
Later this year, the second instalment of the record-breaking video game series from developer Rockstar Games was scheduled to hit consoles. However, it informed supporters that it required more time in order to “deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve”. Since the previous GTA 6 trailer was released in December 2023, not much official information has surfaced.
The 90-second teaser introduced two primary protagonists and a preview of Leonida, the game’s imaginary Florida-inspired setting. Rockstar described the “interest and excitement” in the game in its statement as “truly humbling for our entire team.” The 12-year lag between the release of Grand Theft Auto 5 has prompted a flurry of online jokes and memes, and the firm is notorious for its protracted development cycles.
As expected, people are not happy. Especially PC players who must wait an extra year for the release. Others have been showing their anger and grief on various online platforms. Fans have also joked about the absolute time gap that some of them have turned drinking age when they were in school, when GTA 5 was released.
Well, Rockstar has made up their mind and probably won’t change. And I wouldn’t want it to change anyway. The last thing I want is GTA 6 to be rushed and get the Cyberpunk 2077 treatment.
