Windows 11 Preview Build Featuring USB4
The major version update of the USB4 standard brings in high-performance capabilities. Nevertheless, there are still restrictions on USB4 version 2.0, commonly known as USB 80Gbps support. It is only compatible with a limited number of devices running the Intel Core 14th Gen HX series processor. The Windows Insider team has not yet revealed the date on which this standard will support a wider range of devices.
To ensure compatibility, USB 4 version 2.0 cables are configured to use the USB-C connector. The remarkable update, which permits 80 Gbps operations utilizing the 40 Gbps USB Type-C passive cables that are now in use and the newly defined 80 Gbps USB Type-C active cables, is what makes this disclosure, according to The Verge. Moreover, the USB 4 version 2.0 specification offers better support for DisplayPort and PCIe and faster USB 3.2 rates surpassing 20 Gbps.
We have yet to when Microsoft will launch the update officially. However, it seems it will be soon.
