Xbox Games Pass keeps bringing games onto the platform regularly; this time, it is Mafia DE. Even though the series doesn’t compare to other open-world giants like GTA or Watch Dogs in popularity, it does in content. And there is a reason they gave a remake of a 2002 game.

Xbox Games Pass – Mafia DE
Mafia, published in 2002, was an open-world crime game. Unlike many other games released at the time, Mafia’s approach provided quiet, mature gameplay. In the same August update to Xbox Game Pass, the service announced the addition of Creatures of Ava and the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
Hanger 13 released Mafia: Definitive Edition, a recreation of the 2002 classic, in 2020. The remake stayed true to the original game, with players taking on the role of Tommy Angelo, a taxi driver struggling to make ends meet during the Great Depression before a chance contact with the Salieri crime family leads to an opportunity to work for them.
Nothing in Hanger 13’s Mafia: Definitive Edition is new to fans of the original game. Hanger 13 re-recorded the game’s dialogue using a fresh voice cast. The developer recorded fresh motion capture for the sequences and new voice actors. In this approach, Hanger 13 stays loyal to Illusion Softworks’ initial idea for the game.
