Disney+ is bringing a new Korean drama to its platform next month! “Uncle Samsik,” starring the famous actor Song Kang-ho, is set to premiere on May 15th.
This will be Song Kang-ho’s first-ever television role. He’s known for his award-winning performance in the Oscar-winning movie “Parasite.”
“Uncle Samsik” is a historical drama set in the 1960s. It tells the story of a kind-hearted man named Uncle Samsik (played by Song) who works hard to provide three meals a day for his family. The story also follows Kim San (played by Byun Yo-han), a young, ambitious man from a wealthy family who dreams of making a positive change in the country.
A new poster shows Song with a big smile, holding a pack of snacks and a fish. The tagline reads: “You can open up when you feel full.”
The 16-episode series is directed and written by Shin Yeon-shick, who previously wrote the screenplays for the movies “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet” (2016) and “Cobweb” (2023).
