Actor Johnny Depp is open to returning to Disney after feeling betrayed by the company for dropping him from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Depp, 60, has expressed his feelings of betrayal to Disney while taking a break from his ex-wife’s defamation trial. However, he is now open to working with Disney again if the project is a good fit.
A source told People magazine that Depp is “open to anything” for a comeback. “If he’s a good fit for a project, Disney can do it,” the source said.
The source did not specify if Depp would be returning for Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” series. However, rumours have been circulating that Depp could return to the role of Jack Sparrow.
Jerry Bruckheimer, who is in charge of producing the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, hinted at the possibility of Depp’s return in an interview with The Times of London. “It’s not right now, but the future hasn’t been decided yet,” he said.
A Disney executive told People that a sequel to “Pirates of the Caribbean” will be made without fail. “Thanks to Tom Cruise’s huge success in ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ Jerry Bruckheimer is bringing back a Hollywood star who can make money through a wildly popular franchise,” the executive said.
Depp has starred in five “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, which have grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide. The sixth film in the franchise is currently in development.
