According to Red Angel, a Korean-Indonesian man impersonated a local agency and a fake ticket company in order to approach and intercept the proceeds of the performance. The man then revealed the whole scam to the Korean family in charge of the concert in order to steal more money through voice phishing.
The concert was originally scheduled to be held at the Bungkarno Stadium in Jakarta from November 10th to 12th, 2022. However, it was eventually canceled due to a number of setbacks, including the arrest of Korean officials for violating immigration laws locally.
The fraud that led to the cancellation of the concert is a reminder of the importance of conducting due diligence when organizing international events. Organizers should carefully vet all of their partners and suppliers in order to avoid being scammed.
