Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC Leak Reveals Redesigned CPU Clusters & 32-Bit Support Removal

Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC has leaked, revealing several changes to the design. According to the leak, the new chip will feature redesigned CPU clusters and the removal of support for 32-bit applications.

Redesigned CPU Clusters

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will reportedly feature redesigned CPU clusters, with each cluster featuring four high-performance cores and four efficiency cores. This is a departure from previous Snapdragon designs, which featured three clusters with different numbers of cores. The redesign is likely aimed at improving performance and power efficiency. By having more high-performance cores available, the chip should be able to handle demanding tasks more efficiently. Meanwhile, the efficiency cores will help conserve battery life during less demanding tasks.

32-Bit Support Removal

Another major change in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is the removal of support for 32-bit applications. This means that older apps designed for 32-bit processors will no longer be compatible with the new chip. While this may seem like a drawback at first glance, it allows Qualcomm to focus on optimizing the chip for newer, more advanced software. By removing support for older apps, they can dedicate more resources to making sure that newer apps run as smoothly as possible.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 looks like an exciting step forward for Qualcomm’s mobile processors. With its redesigned CPU clusters and removal of legacy support, it should offer improved performance and energy efficiency compared to previous generations.
