Starfield is nearing its release and everyone is excited. The game looks promising and everyone knows how rarely Bethesda releases games. And with Bethesda’s most famous IP, The Elder Scrolls, not seeing a new release in years, it should be worth it. Yeah, people are hyped for Starfield but there is one question that everyone asks, Where is Elder Scrolls 6? Well, it turns out, it may have to wait even more. Mainly because we may be getting The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake
First of all, let me clarify that this is not about the Skyblivion project. That is a totally different game that uses the Skyrim engine to remake Oblivion.
According to Xfire, a person claiming to be an ex-employee of Virtuos Game Studios published a tonne of information on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours. The user talked about a number of projects they claim the studio is currently working on. This included a remake or remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The user claims that the project is now called “Altar”. However, it is still uncertain whether or not a complete remake would be included.
The remaster is presently being run using both an Unreal Engine 5 project and the old Oblivion one. “It is done using a pairing system, so it means that the remaster is running using both an Unreal Engine 5 project and the old Oblivion one,”. For instance, while the majority of the gameplay, physics, etc. are still carried out in Oblivion, fresh graphics are rendered in the UE5 project. Depending on whether it is a remake or remaster, it should be released in the first quarter of 2025. The studio for the art is assisted by Black Shamrock, while most of it is done in Paris.
One of the subreddit’s moderators appears to have confirmed that the person actually was a former employee of the company, even though the message has now been removed and the Reddit account that originally published it has also been deleted. Take it with a grain of salt, though, just to be safe.
