Blackpink, which debuted in August 2016, has been active in the music industry for seven years. Their exclusive contract with YG Entertainment expired in August of this year. Since then, various speculations have arisen regarding the renewal of the contract. Despite the contract renewal period having passed, YG maintains that negotiations are ongoing.
During a recent performance as part of their world tour ‘Born Pink,’ the group members expressed their intention to continue as Blackpink in the future, but there was no mention of contract renewal.
Some industry insiders believe that three of Blackpink’s members, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo, have decided not to renew their contracts with YG, with the exception of Rosé. Various possibilities are being discussed, including the establishment of individual agencies for the members.
