SM Entertainment has confirmed reports that Aespa member Winter underwent surgery for a collapsed lung, also known as pneumothorax.
According to SM Entertainment’s statement, Winter is currently recovering from the surgery. Pneumothorax occurs when air accumulates outside the lung but within the pleural cavity, the space between the lungs and chest wall. This air buildup can compress the lungs, causing partial or complete collapse.
“Following discussions with medical staff,” SM Entertainment stated, “surgery was decided upon as a preemptive measure due to the possibility of recurrence.” Winter’s health will be the top priority when determining her future schedules.
