Tencent is one of the biggest companies in the gaming industry. Many people don’t know them directly. But if you indulge in any sort of gaming, chances are the game you play is owned by Tencent. Just to place some examples, The company already has studios like Riot and Epic Games. According to the reports, they are also acquiring Techland Studios.

Tencent and Techland

There were also reports on internal issues at Techland also last year. The studio claimed that around 5% of its employees, left the company in a span of two months. But according to Techland’s CEO, the company’s “best is yet to come” with this latest Tencent acquisition.

Techland Studios, After a protracted delay, finally released Dying Light 2: Stay Human last year, to mostly positive reviews. “Working with Tencent will allow us to move full speed ahead with the execution of our vision for our games,” CEO Pawel Marchewka

Tencent is one of the biggest video gaming businesses in the world. And it appears that it has no difficulty spending the money required to stay there. Some of the most lucrative video games in the world, such as Honour of Kings, Call of Duty: Mobile, and PUBG Mobile, are all part of Tencent’s portfolio.

Despite the fact that the acquisition may appear to be excellent news for Techland at the moment, recent events may show that the practice of buying up gaming studios isn’t always successful in the long run. The Swedish corporation Embracer Group, which also owns other companies like Gearbox Entertainment and Crystal Dynamics, disclosed last month that it would halt the development of some games and sell off studios as part of a bigger restructuring strategy.
