Electronic Arts (EA) announced a company reorganization on Wednesday, including layoffs and project changes.

Citing the need to adapt to a rapidly changing industry and evolving player preferences, CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed the layoffs, impacting nearly 700 employees. In a separate statement, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele explained the decision to cancel the Star Wars FPS.
Miele emphasized Respawn’s existing strengths and ongoing projects. “Respawn’s ability to connect with players and create exceptional games is unmatched. Our review showed that players are most excited about Jedi Fallen Order and Respawn’s established franchises.”
She further clarified that EA would shift focus to “new projects based on our brands” while supporting existing titles. This shift prioritizes established franchises like Apex Legends, which recently received a well-received update.
While the Star Wars FPS cancellation disappoints some fans, EA’s decision reflects their strategic focus on proven successes and adapting to industry changes.
