(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon made headlines recently after teasing a potential contract change at the group’s concert “iDOL” in Seoul. During her performance of “Is This Bad B** Number?” she changed the words “F**k it, the contract ends in November.” This unexpected move has sparked speculation about her relationship with CUBE Entertainment down the road.
Acting fast on the buzz, CUBE Entertainment clarified that all members of (G)I-DLE are indeed in positive talks to renew their contracts which end next year and that what was sung by Soyeon was part of her lyrics alteration during performances but not pre-approved actions or words that could cause misunderstanding leading to false reports tarnishing company reputation.
However, through her Instagram account, Soyeon refuted those claims made by Cube Ent stating they knew about everything she did on stage beforehand since according to her version, she often told them what exactly would happen, thus criticizing their official response as being ‘insufficient’.
In response to Soyeon’s post, CUBE Entertainment apologized for its previous statement admitting having been aware of both the lyrics change and the performance plan itself beforehand while reiterating ongoing renewal discussions.
With this backdrop industry insiders predict that once November comes knocking KOZ Entertainment may become a new home for Soyeon after leaving Cube Ent. This has left fans wondering what is next in store regarding (G)I-DLE future and also making it a hot topic within different forums.
