Lee’s agency, C-JeS Studio, released an official statement on the 29th, expressing their disappointment: “After acknowledging their growing relationship, we kindly requested fans to offer their support and respect their privacy. However, the actor has been subjected to online slander and the spread of misinformation.“
The statement further confirms the agency’s intention to pursue legal action against those responsible: “We have identified several online posts containing malicious intent and blatant falsehoods. These posts constitute a serious violation of Mr. Lee’s rights. Therefore, we inform you that we will take strong civil and criminal legal action through our legal representatives.”
Previously, on the 27th, the agencies for both Lee and Karina confirmed their relationship after a report by the media outlet Dispatch. The report claimed the couple met at a luxury brand event in January and developed a romantic connection.
While the public announcement should have been a joyous occasion, it has unfortunately resulted in negative consequences. Some fans of Karina considered a leading visual of the fourth generation of K-pop girl groups, have expressed their disapproval, leading to a noticeable increase in malicious comments directed at Lee.
Lee’s agency provided an email address for fans to report any further instances of online harassment: “We are actively monitoring online platforms. We encourage fans to report any malicious activity to the provided email address, and we will take appropriate legal action.”
