The new tech laws in the EU are making Apple change their ways. With the introduction of USB type C to iPhones and 3rd Party side loading, the company has to make huge changes to comply with DMA. However, the problems don’t end here, with Spotify Accusing Apple of blocking their app updates.

Spotify And Apple Tensions
Reportedly in advance of the DMA, Spotify released an upgrade to its iOS app on March 5. The business now asserts that Apple is delaying the upgrade, though.
According to Spotify representative Jeanne Moran, “this delay directly conflicts with their claim that they turn around reviews on app submissions within 24 hours,” The Verge was informed. “It also flies in the face of the timeline for adoption the Commission laid out.”
Tensions between the two organisations are still present despite this most recent altercation. Spotify has long maintained that App Store policies unfairly favour Apple Music. Some of these arguments seem to be supported by the EU’s decision, and the DMA is a big step in the right direction towards a more transparent app environment.
Apple stated in January that it was modifying its App Store guidelines in the US. This enabled developers to include links to third-party payment processors that are not available through the App Store. Epic Games is another developer that has had disagreements with Apple. “Apple’s goal is clear: to prevent purchasing alternatives from constraining the supracompetitive fees it collects on purchases of digital goods and services,” Epic wrote in its court filing. “Apple’s so-called compliance is a sham.”
