The resurgence of handhelds in recent years has been pretty interesting. They are as powerful as ever and even compete with consoles. One of the top contenders is the Steam Deck which uses its powen SteamOS. And now, Valve is bringing the OS to other non-valve devices too.

SteamOS On Non-Valve Devices
As reported by TechSpot, a recent patch notice for a SteamOS update suggests that Valve is working on bringing the operating system onto more devices. This isn’t too surprising given Valve’s stated desire to make the OS compatible with devices other than the Steam Deck.
Fortunately, it appears that Valve has finally found time for other devices. At the bottom of the “Input” category in the SteamOS 3.6.9 Beta patch notes, it states, “Added support for extra ROG Ally keys”.
It looks like Valve is gearing up for SteamOS to work with the extra buttons on the ROG Ally. And if that’s true, we should hopefully see the operating system officially jump to other portable consoles.
