Valve has been working on its hero shooter Deadlock for a while now and its beta has finally been released. And to no one’s surprise, the game is popular. However, I did not expect to be this much popular in just two days of launch. This is way higher than another hero shooter named Concord released just a week ago, with barely more than 700 peak players.

Deadlock
As of this writing, the game had 89,203 participants. It’s just over double the initial peak of 44,512 players in August 2016.
Deadlock’s existence has been known for some years, but Valve has insisted on keeping it a secret until now. For those curious, the current Deadlock peak is somewhat higher than the 24-hour peak for Valve’s previous multiplayer titles such as Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, as well as the all-time top for the first Left 4 Dead.
Comparing this to Concord, released just a couple of weeks ago, you can see the extent of Valve’s popularity. Deadlock, even in its closed beta, saw 100 times more players than the peak of Concord.
Deadlock is currently only available to playtesters and those who have been invited. It’s unknown when Valve will launch a larger, more open beta, or what other platforms the eventual, no-longer-secretive game will support.
