Use a Professionally taken Photograph

You may be thinking that you can get by with a photo taken from a smartphone. While devices nowadays feature really high-resolution cameras, it’s not the sole thing that matters. Professional photographers really know how to get the best out of an image through contrast, lighting, and other stuff. So it’s definitely worth it to get a photo taken by them.

Use your latest Photograph

Your LinkedIn Profile Picture should be recent. If you are using an older photo, you won’t look like how you look in your profile. It’s obvious that age differences will make you look different in person. However, other things affect this as well. Maybe you changed your hairstyle or maybe you lost weight. So make sure to use a photograph that looks exactly like you.

Look at the Camera

You must look at the camera. It helps the recruiters with recognizing your face better. Make sure not to tilt your head. Keep the pose as standard as possible. Don’t go with those aesthetic poses. They might look good on Instagram but they won’t attract viewers on LinkedIn.

Don’t Use Selfies

Make sure that someone else takes your photograph. The problem with selfies is they are not symmetrical and they can sometimes morph the face. Also, selfies don’t look professional at all. On that note, never use filters in your photos. Even if you do, make sure they are light and not too obstructing.

And Lastly, the most important tip is Smile.
