Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 was announced at the Nintendo Direct June 2023. The collection will bring the original 3 main line games and the other NES and side games to PC and next gen consoles. Well, it’s a great way to get the games on newer hardware. While Metal Gear Solid is still available for PC through GOG, there is no option to play the original games on the newer consoles. Anyway, the Vol 1 in name also suggests a Vol 2. The Vol 2 will probably consist Metal Gear Solid 4 – Guns of the Patriot, A game which is held by the platform. But Just let’s look at bigger problems.

What Can Go Wrong The Metal Gear Solid 4 Port?
Currently, you can legally, only play Metal Gear Solid 4 on the PlayStation 3. As you may know PS3 is not terribly popular console. PS3 never sold good numbers. This actually hindered with game preservation. While the PS3 surprisingly sold more units the Xbox 360, there something that Xbox had. The backwards compatibility on the Xbox really helped with games being preserved. While PS3 games, had no such feature.
Also keep in mind, Till now, nearly every Metal Gear Solid game has seen multiple platform releases. Sooner or Later. Except of Course Metal Gear Solid 4. Which will surely change once the Vol 2 comes out.
But there seems to be a problem. Konami was never good at ports. Take Master Duel for Example. The games runs horribly on consoles. The original Metal Gear Solid PC port on GOG still requires fanmade patched to work Properly. Metal Gear Solid 2 was totally removed from listing because of copyright reasons.
The latest news reveals that Vol 1 games won’t even support Keyboard and Mouse. If this does not sound like a cash grab then i don’t know what does. If they are going to release these games with little to no effort as possible then maybe the Metal Gear Solid 4 Port will not be a good idea anyway.
Unless Konami puts actual effort into the ports then maybe it would be worth it to buy the collection. Otherwise, if you are a PC player, just emulate the games. Or maybe get the GOG versions.
